Made the big decision, going to get the Delta DJ-20, looks like a good jointer for the $’s.
Now that all of you helped me choose this thing can someone help me with a mobile base? As you said it is heavy and I have always made mobile bases for the tools that need it but think I want to speed things up and hopefully end up with a better base.
I saw the HTC HRJ-8, and the Delta 50-276 Mobile Machine Base on Amazon, I’m sure there are others and like the 8” jointer question I sure could use some experienced recommendations.
Thanks to all for the help on the jointer, all messages were read, thought about, and appreciated.
George

Ø Just bought the DJ-20. I made my decision baste on your thread thanks. I bought the HTC because I have it on other tools and they hold up very well. Now we need a knife setting jig and a dial indicator w/ base. But witch jig? Maybe someone can help.
Jeff in so cal
Maybe we should buy Delta stock! I can't because all my money went to the jointer!!!!!
I will have to check the archives for setting tools, if not there it may make a good thread.
Good luck with your jointer, watch your fingers, George
I've got the DJ-20 and the Delta base the manufacturer suggests. The mobile base is plenty solid and very stabile when the wheels are raised. The machine is rather heavy and that really helps hold it secure.
I can't speak to other base manufacturers.
