I have built bases for my Powermatic planer, bandsaw, jointer and now am reconsidering if I want to have my Powermatic 66 table saw off the floor another 5- 6 inches.
Does any one think this is a bad idea? safety problem? the jointer seems highter than I would have thought. I used 2 & 3 inch casters – alternative solutions?
thank you

I just raised my Jet 3 1/2" on top of the Vega Machine mover base. I don't see any problems as long as the blocks are square or wider so they don't tip.

With what exactly did you build the bases? I am going to build a base for my new pm66 cabinet saw; looking for ideas. I want to be able to move the saw as well as the outfeed and 50 " fence. It will be like pushing around a volkswagon I know!

I built the base out of 2X4 and used another 2X4 on the edges which held the wheels. thus 1.5 + 1.5 = 3 inches for the base@ wheel ehight, plus the wheels. It seems sturdy enough but the height was more than I expected.

I was thinking about welding up some 2X2 box steel W/ diagonal braces on opposing corners. Then having the whole thing powder coated in black. I only want to lift that beast once.
