How many of you like Modern Masters on HGTV? At least half of the coverage is about Woodworking. Well they went and took it of the air. This is one of the best programs on the air. Their’s always something to learn and enjoy. What a shame.

I liked it a lot. I'll miss it.

I too like the show and miss it. Heck, I was just getting my Tivo warmed up.

It was one of the few shows on HGTV that I watch
Darkworksite4:
Estamos ganando detrás el estado de Calif. Derrotando a un #### a la vez. DESEA VIVO LA REVOLUCIÓN
I will miss Modern Masters and Dream Builders. The segment that had Sam Maloof was great. Watching the masters of fields other than woodworking was an eye opener. I got interested in ceramics and casting jewelery from watching.
Dream Builders too! Were these shows produced by the same people? The feel was similar. Now I'm really pissed.
It was a pleasant show to watch, very well done, and I always wondered why it came on at 10:00 pm on Sunday night. I had to make a conscious effort to catch it. Not like HGTV is overloaded with quality shows, most are pretty crappy. I'm going to complain, it should be back on in no time.
I sent HGTV an e-mail asking them to reconsider their decision. Maybe if they hear from enough of us they will.

I do not intend to renew my television subscription with HGTV because of this most recent cancellation. HGTV is often pre-empting or switching the viewing schedule with little or no notice. Once HGTV was very interesting; not so much anymore.

Not only did I enjoy watching it, I taped it and showed it to my students in a boys prison construction class. Most of them never had any exposure to what one is able to do with their own hands. I also share the furniture I build with them. I will write HGTV, they are slipping in my opinion too. Too much emphasize on decorating and alternative live style folks and not enough on true art and craftsmanship.

I too will write. Modern Masters was a gem - always with creative woodworking and as others have said, it generated interest in other arts also. Favorite was one with a woman who did hand made brick installations - very detailed carving. Just never would have thought that you could do that with the pre-fired brick products.
The lady that does the brick carving did a wall at the university I attend. It is about 25'X50'. It tell the history of the university. It is also designed to be moved in sections if they decide to tear the building down in the next century or so. She does really impressive work.
Just got TIVO and was searching for it so I could put it on my season pass list. I can't believe they canceled such a well made show. Favorite was the guy who made those subtle relief carvings in doors, kind of looked like the bear or wolf was coming right through the door. Going to log a complaint right now.
I agree that it was one of the best programs on HGTV . it always had an interesting segment on it whether you were a woodworker or not. Was sorry to see it suddenly go off air
Thanks for the info on the show, I thought they had changed the time again this past weekend when I happened to turn it on to see it. It usually had some great artist on it doing some unusual things and really enjoyed it. Didn't always agree that all of them were "Masters" but was always enjoying to watch. Will also have to drop HGTV a nasty gram! All they have any more is the little fat man telling you you have to have the inside of your house 20 different colors and adds for the Big box stores to sell all the crap to do it!
