I am drying some cherry and green ash boards that I recently had cut. Does anyone have any recommendations on what would be the best moisture meter to use for testing?

Ultrasea,
I am not sure if the brand of moisture meter is as important as the method of measuring. I am under the impression that the newer pinless meters that use (?) ultrasound frequencies are the more accurate way to measure board moisture, especially in thicker boards where the outside maybe significantly drier than the inside. I bought one a year or so ago, and it has a conversion chart for the different species of wood. The more expensive ones automatically convert the % for you when entering the wood species.

Thank you Dave. I should be home in about three months and by then the wood should have dried some. That gives me time to look around and find something on the order of what you recommended. The wood slabs I had cut are from 1 inch to 3 inchs thick. A good meter would probably save me a lot of grief in the long run.
