OK, if there was any lingering doubt about Lee Valley and their superb customer service, get this. I recently received a “bandsaw duplicator,” ordered for my Grizzly 1019Z (a now outdated model). I ordered the one they thought would fit. Unfortunately, the screws were the wrong thread.
So, what do you do when it’s a Lee Valley order, rather than one of the other companies? You take the Return-Your-Merchandise slip that’s included when you receive the order, slap it on a padded envelope and drop it in the mail, no postage needed! So, that’s pretty cool, but it doesn’t end there.
Included with the little duplicator is a roll of double-sided tape. I popped that in the envelope too. Today, I got an email, to paraphrase: “There’s this roll of tape, not one of our items, would you like us to send it back?” Wow! I wrote back and explained that it was included in the BS Dupe purchase. My goodness! They would have shipped it back if I had, in a clueless moment, sent them something that wasn’t theirs!
That takes the cake. I’m moving to Canada and getting a job with Lee Valley!

Jamie,
Love their product (Brother has bought me back a few things when over there on holiday) but they just have to do something about their freight rates.
I started an order for a couple of books this week, and the freight to Australia - even the 6-8 week option - was worth more than the books. Think this is the second time I have backed out of on order on this basis.

Hmmmmm, not sure what they could do about overseas shipping. Do they ship out of the USA for those? Might be worth trying to get Mr. Lee, Jr.'s attention on that. Check out the Global Priority rates at:

We'll be waiting for you here in the frozen north Jamie. You're right about LV, it doesn't get any better than that. They take care of every complaint or request as if it was a personal problem. It's too bad that service like that is so rare that we feel obligated to comment on it when we come across it.

"It's too bad that service like that is so rare that we feel obligated to comment on it when we come across it." I'm pretty sure many of the other companies have lurkers on the forums. If we comment on LV often enough, and gushingly enough, maybe they'll make some attempt to improve their own service.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
