OK, the 7′ laminate table i posted about last week & prior went well, customer was happy. Now i am trying to decide on another commercial job i bid on, i was originally going to sub it out to a shop nearby that does the eurostyle cabinetry (originally a laminate counter top company that bought a router & is now is in the casework business) but am thinking i would like to do it in my shop. a few questions though. on exposed panels on side & front of radiused reception desk & end panels- do i actually laminate the substrate or can i buy panels already laminated or melamine? how to handle the slab doors? Pattern is to be a dark mahogany of some type. i would make cabinet insides out of colored melamine & edgeband. I also could utilize some 1 1/4″ bumper molding that i have left over from table project (maybe just around laminate work surface?) can you all give me crash course for this project? just FYI – i also use Northern Contours for thermofoil doors. i attached pix of the table i finished last week & a rough plan view of the desk area i was talking about here.
