MDF cut into small cross sections, such as dovetails and pins, tends to be weak and easily broken since it has no grain to tie it into the main section of the board. Also the inner portion of most MDF is softer than the surface and doesn't cut cleanly creating fitting problems. You can probably do it, but it hardly seems worth the trouble.
