I am building a Stickley side table.
it calls for legs spread at 3 degrees on the sides, I was reading phillip Morley report on a mortiser but unfortunately this is set for 90 degrees and I need to cut my mortises on an angle. I was wanting to build a jig to do this ? Does anyone have some ideas how ?
Thanks in advance Dave

You can use a router box with a wedge to cut mortices on legs at an angle. The wedge holds the leg at a repeatable angle. The wedge can also be used to cut the shoulders of the tenons.

I made this a couple years ago and his method worked for me (uses drill press and a chisel guide) —

Seems like a good techinque is to angle the aprons and thus tenons on the TS.
Here's an article on building a side table with a 4deg splay.

Thanks for that article. I like that “simple” look, and things that look simple but really aren’t.
Thanks for all the help ! I think I will use the box and wedges.
3 degrees is not much, it represents less than 1/8 taper over two inches. You could cut the mortice square and enlarge the top of the mortice by 1/8 with a chisel tapering to nothing at the bottom and taper the lower side of the tenon by the same amount.
look up article by Chris Becksvoort (Shaker Inspired Hall Table c 2012) I think..He splays the legs on this 2 degrees....shows how to do it using a tables.
