Is anybody out there currently operating (or supervising those who operate) a modern six-head moulder? By “modern” I mean manufactured in the last five years. If so, I would greatly appreciate any specific information you can provide about the normal range of hourly wages. If you do respond, could you include your geographic region as well so I can use a salary calculator online?
Thanks!

I'm overseeing the use of a Weinig machine with 6 heads for a factory we're setting up in Africa. See link http://forums.taunton.com/fw-knots/messages?msg=36267.1
I don't think that anything I might say about our wages would be even slightly relevant to your situation. The job requires an intelligent operator with experience in various woodworking operations. Because the machine is so versatile, a good operator will understand how to make the most out of it even when faced with new milling operations.
If you still want to know about wages, write me personally.

Can't help this: how many other people noticed Jenny's number ring with this post?
If you didn't get that, you're too old or too young. ;)

Ya,
Tommy Tutone! Ever hear the live version?
And I'm OLD too, but I guess not that old!

But did they "get it off the wall?"
Don't think this is the best place to post such a question. there is the Occupational Outlook Handbook which covers such questions. Better to go to the pro site woodweb.com Even there you won't get a real answer. Our moulder operator in W. Mass gets about $18 an hour. It varies all over the country. Most will say underpaid I'm betting.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my post. I got some very helpful information from you all, and I really appreciate it!
