I am setting up shop after a move. My shop will be in an attached garage. My former set up in an attached garage and had the cyclone mounted to an exterior wall. With my past set up noise transmition was not a problem. The best layout that I have come up with for the new shop has the 2hp cyclone attached to one of the walls of the garage that is shared with the rest of the house. I am sure that many people out there have a dc mounted to a shared wall. Do any of you have a noise issue within the house when the dc is running?

Shared Wall
Yes, I have mounted my dust collector in my garage to an ajoining wall to the den. I get a little flack from my wife about it. To be honest she has a legitimate complaint. I tried to insulate the attachment to the wall but this did not work out. The vibration turns the wall into a drum. I am planning to reinstall the dust collector (Oneida cyclone) to a free standing frame and attaching the frame to the floor so there is no contact to with the wall.

Thank you
Thanks for the reply. I was afraid that the wall would act like a huge sound board, but I wanted to hear from someone who actually had the issue. I guess I will either work out a different shop lay out or make a stand for the machine. Oneida wants a couple hundred dollars for their stand. I am sure that I can make my own for a lot less.
