I’ve got a 16 1/2″ Delta floor model dril press that I have had for about 12 years. The only thing I have ever done to it is to change over to link belts. If I was to ” move up” to a “better” drill press, where should I go?

CNC
Hey Sphere,
All that came through on your message was 3 letters "CNC" this is a little cryptric for me.
Duncan
It's a designator for a high end piece of machinery.
Computer Numerical Count.

Sorry, the explanation of what the acronym stands for still does not help me in my quest for suggestions about a new drill press.
Duncan
A computer driven machine from the size of pick up to a semi with 4 decimal place accuracy. 6 axis. Auto bit change with a turrent head. Coolant bath. Material self feed isn't an up grade to your drill press.
What would be other than a say a Bourroughs machinest's drill press.
Or go for a Hardinges.

Imerc,
Your depth of knowledge on this subject is awesome!
I have a fairly standard small shop drill press, the Delta 16 1/2", and am looking to go to something a little larger. I went from a delta 14" 3/4hp bandsaw to a laguna 18" 3hp bandsaw. I am looking to do a similar kind of move with my drill press. If you have any ideas based on this kind of move up I would appreciate the advice. Your previous information has been a little overwhelming for me.
thanks
Duncan
Why the upgrade?
Size? Capacity? HP? More speed range? Tired of the old one?
What is that your current DP not doing for you?
What would new one have to do that the old one can't?
