Hi, need to move this Delta Planer (250#) and the easiest (not the most ideal) is to support it with 2×4 on side and tip it on it’s side into my trailer. Will need a few bodies if I lift it upright and transport like it is. Is there any inherent problem with laying on it’s side to transport?

Lower the head all the way and lock it, then unbolt it from the stand and transport it flat. Why take a chance on ruining alignment when you don't have to?
Definitely don't lay it on its side. As previously stated just unbolt it from the stand and whatever extension tables are there. In the scheme of things that is a relatively small planer and I don't believe weighs more than 300lbs without the stand. Nothing compared to some of the equipment I've moved this past year. ;-) good luck. I hope you have strong friends who work for beer.
What those guys said. Unbolt and ship upright. Wouldn't even consider doing otherwise.
