Hi all!
I’m seriously considering purchasing the Knapp signature series multi machine. It can be configured with a lot of different options and I was wondering… Has anyone out there bought and used one of these? How are they to work with? Any problems the salesmen don’t tell us about? Any and all information will be considered and appreciated! thanks! Geo

Geo, I'm going to assume that you are a seasoned woodworker with a nice tool budget but working alone in a limited space situation. These are the reasons that many folks look to the multi-function machines. If this is truly the case then you fit the mold for owning one and you are causing me to turn green with envy.
I might suggest that you do some comparision checks against the Felder and the Laguna, (Laguna is going to halt U.S. sales but there are still a few around). The most important part of a multi-function machine is the workflow aspect. It needs to work for you in such a manner that you are not constantly changing setups and that the setups don't cost you a key component in your work process. Things like not being able to use the saw if the shaper is setup can be a real hassle unless you plan well ahead.

Thanks for the info!
Yes... it would be an understatement to say I'm a seasoned woodworker. My father, born in 1898, was listed in Strad magazine for over 30 years as one of the top-ten violin repairman in the world. I don't claim to have his experience, but I have certainly learned from him. Since age 12 I've repaired violins, bows, harps, guitars, harpsichords, even built a few instruments... ( three of them were good) Now at the tender age of 48, I'm considering what I should do with the rest of my life and want to build beautiful things from wood. I like the idea of designing and building quality furniture, cabinets and bars.
Yes, I have a reasonable budget but I'm more concerned with the usability and efficiency of the machine. I'm distressed to find out that Laguna is discontinuing sales. Are you sure about that? They just sent me info about the machine in question. Your advice is truly appreciated! Don't worry about the Knapp being the only machine in the shop. Multiple set-ups are not a problem! There are plenty of tools here already. Also, yes... I do work mostly alone, but have a few reliable part- time, (and very well paid) employees.
If you'ld like to contact me, you're welcome!

geo,
I highly recommend that you get a look at a Felder. I own one and it is very nice, consistently dead-on accurate, and very well thought out. Smooth easy setup changes too. I simply could not be more pleased with a machine. wb
Thank you. I will.
