I’m considering buying one of the Multiform router bits that advertise the ability to produce 42 profiles. It would be mostly used for occasional projects (box molding, picture frames) not for production.
Does anyone have any opinions abouts these bits? How about setup? Are they worth $40 to $90?
Thanks

My personal opinion is to try and find a bit that does the shape you want. If you do much profile work with various details the bits are cheaper and they won't wear out as fast. In the long run your expensive bit will dull quicker. Whether or not you sharpen your bits will make a difference
I picked up a set made by Oldham (viper) at a woodworking show. There was an extensive guide, showing what combinations of bits produce a certain profile. The ones I have done are great, especially for picture frames. They show a setup for a few moulding profiles, but I question the durability of the bits in production work.
