The music boxes come with a mechanism for turning them on and off. You can adapt it to an opening lid, door or drawer. You may have to be a bit creative depending on what you want to do. The music box will have to be rewound. I have used longer keys from electric lamps to reach a little father and make winding easier, on back mounted boxes. The better music boxes are expensive, price goes up with the number of notes. Solid mounting helps the sound.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
thanks guys, maybe i'll buy one and give it a go. the eagle america cataloge was the first one i saw and then i saw some in other ones too. the price does go up rather dramatically as the note count increases.
Which catalog ? I made the one on and in the http://www.eagleamerica.com catalog. The construction plans are pretty complete, I wrote them as I progressed on the project step by step. More than just pictures and measurements.
