   If the planer has as few hours as you believe, why don't you begin by contacting Delta?  There's a chance they may fix it on their nickle.  If so, it's best not to start playing around with it yourself.

   Did you take the protective plastic off the bottom platform? I had the same problem until I wondered what the heck is putting all the scratches in that platform.

   I could also have listed this reply under "Stupid things I have done". But hey the instructions said nothing about that and I wouldn't have read it anyway.

   Asked this on another forum where some guys from Delta hang out. The question got me thinking about my portable planer. Here's his response:

   ""Unless you've cleaned the rollers with alcohol (which makes them harden), I don't know of any reason they should get any harder than they are.

   As far as that fellow's feeding probs, I would think he needs to clean the table, replace the knives (btw, I can dull a set of knives in 10 minutes), and WASH the feed rollers (I recommend dish washing soap and warm/hot water, then let 'em air dry), after he's scraped any buildup off them. ""

   I sometimes have the same problem with my Delta planer if I'm triing to plane material thats really rough or cupped so to fix the problem I keep the infeed,outfeed and center tables well waxed with a good quality paste wax. Also I have to keep the feed rollers clean from pitch alls I use is a little paint thinner on a rag then follow with a little WD 40 so it doesn,t dry out the rubber. Another thing be sure the blades are razor sharp this can effect the planers performance too. I hope these suggestions will be of some help........  Good Luck.........     JIM CLARK  the"PUTTERIN YANKEE" woodworking shop

   oil eats rubber....soap is an excellent lubricant...vinegar cleans it...

   I appreciate your reply and the recommendations from the other folks as well.  Seems everyone believes the rollers easily get dirty and need regular cleaning.  I’ll try that with soap and water or maybe vinegar as one person suggested.  I’ll also wax the in feed and out feed tables.  Thanks for the tips!
