I got my lathe for Christmas. So far I’ve made about a dozen pens. gave most of those away.
Tonight I had the greatest time. I help my 5 year old daughter turn a pen for herself! it was great! She really focused on what she was doing with the gouge and listening to my instructions. I think she liked the sanding the best.

Wonderful! The pen may disappear in the next few years, but the feel of what she's done may endure for a lifetime...
Very nice. :) I have 18-month-old twins, and can't wait to get them into the shop with the boys and me. :)
Catch them young for a lifetime of woodworking pleasure, but protect young lungs with a dust mask ( I know it was probably removed for the photo ) so many turning woods produce reactive dust. Lace bobbins are another good small item for presents (granny aunties etc ) All the best
Regards Teabag.
Cute kid. Look out Raffan..
For her next outing though, she'd be safer in short sleeves.
My six year old likes dredging through the shavings. He can spend hours at it.
