I am looking into buying a nail gun. I will be putting up interior siding (wood t/g 5/8″ thick) Which brand is best, what type of gun would be best, what gauge nail would I need….Help.
I have been searching for some type of nail gun tool review but have not had any luck.

Taw,
I have a cordless Porter Cable brad nailer. On this unit a battery runs a compresser in the nailer. The unit can also be run straight off a compresser. It uses 18 gauge brads with legths up to 2". I would buy it again. Very good for light stuff. Leaves a very small nail hole. I use it for small trim.(yours being 5/8 thick) Check it out on the net. It does what is promised.

I suspect that you'll be better off looking for a 16g or 15g finish nailer rather than an 18g (or finer) brad spitter.
Ever since an 18g brad nailer from Harbor Fright has well outlived a Porter Cable nailer I've sort of given up on loking at "Big Brand Names" first. I have a number of nailers now and none of the survivors is a BBN (Big...) so...
Do you have a Harbor Fright store within driving distance? If so, look at the "US General" 16g finish nailer. It's a danged good nail spitter. Especially at its price! (I've had one for 3+ years now and have run far more than a few boxes of "Paslode" branded nails of various sizes through it with nary a hiccup.)
For what you're looking at doing, I suspect the 16g will be sufficient. IF you really need 15g, HF has shooters that should serve the need just as well (for quite a bit less than the "BBN" stuff.)
BTW, there really is a big diff between the size of a 16g and a 15g nail. Nail LENGTH is going to be determined by your distance from about 1/8th below the surface you fire the nail into and whatever lies below/behind that surface. (Keep the nail short enough to miss any Romex!!!)
