Does anyone have any recomendations concerning the Nailer/Compressor combo’s that are on the market? Porter Cable has a few along with Dewalt I believe. Who is the “true” manufactuer of the compressors? Are you better of buying the units seperately so as not to get a cheap compressor with a good nailer or vice versus? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I bought the Porter Cable "Jetstream" CPL6025 compressor at Lowe's when it was on sale. All I can say about it is that it works. Draining the tank is easy with a wing nut on the bottom. I bought a moisture separator at Sears Hardware.
I would opt for the oil type if you want longivity. Tighten up the head bolts aftr about 100 hrs of use.
*Eric,I bought the Porter Cable finishing nailer combo and have been pleased with it. It works well and the compressor does all I need. The nailer is a beauty classic Porter Cable quality. The only down side is that the compressor is small. I don't know who makes Porter Cable compressors, but Dewalt recently bought Emglo and has put their name on Emglo's compressors. From what I hear they are good compressors.Matt-
*My recommendation is get the biggest compressor you can find. This is based on my experience. I will not go into the long story but let's say I am on my 2nd compressor and will now go to my 3rd. It will be a 60 gallon 17 cfm 2 stage compressor for $800( new). Used are less. You don’t need it for you air gun. But you need CFM for airless conversion paint guns. Continuous use Air tools like sanders. Air tools are cheaper than electric tools. You can do some Sam Mallof (SP) shaping with an inflatable sander etc. Think about it. I didn‘t now I wish I had. Get an oil bath compressor and it will be in your Will when you die.
*I've had the Porter-Cable combo package for a year or two and have no complaints. I have used it for small painting projects but if you are going to do much painting you will need a larger tank. If you are planning to mostly use it for shooting brads and blowing off saw dust you will be pleased, as a package it is a good deal
*Good morning Eric.I can echo the sentiments of Matthew and Will above.I've had the Porter Cable finish nailer combo for a while and it has worked admirably. The compressor cycles on and off very infrequently and I've never had to wait to use the nailer. Obviously, if you intend to use the nailer in a commercial situation and/or for painting etc., then it would probably be inadequate and I would suggest purchasing the pieces seperately.Regards,Carlos
*I bought the Bostich combo a while back and so far I have had no issues with a brad, finish or framing gun. SJ
*SJ, which model do you have. I just bought a CPAK100R on ebay for 195.00. I figured what the heck, I can barely by the compressor for that. It has a 60 day return policy and full factory warranty.SS
