Hi all and @Ben Strano in particular…
The forum lists recent activity as opposed to recent posts first. This means that many replies shown are to posts made many years ago. Seldom do the responses to such old posts add anything to the discussion and they are prime candidates for spamming.
Perhaps we could look in to how the forum decides which posts are recent enough to display, and maybe posts older than x months, or with no activity for x months (I propose 3) might be ‘archived’ and no further responses allowed. They need to be there to be read, but it can be hard to find the new content too.
Thoughts anyone?
Also, it seems the metric bug is catching. How long will the USA be able to hold out?

In the forum menu choose "new posts" instead of "recent posts". "New posts" should be the default view in my opinion. "Recent posts" should be identified as old posts when they in fact, are (based on the date of the original post).
I just changed all of my rules and measures to metric. It is slowing me down right now, mostly because of old drawings, scale models, and jigs that need to be converted

I went and got my booster shots updated.
Influenza, tetanus, metric.
All good.
If you're talking about old posts showing up at the top of the recents list, that is due to spam. They dig up old posts and comment on them, hoping we won't catch it. We do eventually (I think at least). But then the posts are shown as having new content.
That said, I recently did ask the programers about giving me an archive feature. Fingers crossed!
As for metric, you never know when it's gonna get you _MJ_!
Same here, wife and I updated tetanus, flu and pneumonia over the past few months.
Also - if you're over 50, and had chicken pox as a kid, you are vulnerable for shingles. I've never had shingles but a couple of friends have and it is apparently hell on earth. The new version is supposedly 99% effective, vs. 70% for the older one. The new version is 2 shots, a couple of months apart. Warning, its considerably more expensive than the old.
Flyfisher111,
Here in Cincinnati it is near impossible to get the shingles vaccine, it's just not available.
I saw some metrics crawling around in the shop today, probably because the heat is on on now. I put down some boric acid powder along the baseboards; that should take care of it.
When I was a kid in elementary school (this was in the 60s) it was all about how the US was going metric soon. Hmm... I know the system, but I use the old Imperial system and will till I die.
I like MJ's solution of boric acid! :)
Isn't it interesting how a thread on the metric system can turn into a thread about shingles vaccine? You guys crack me up!
I lived in Canada for thirty five years and constantly was dealing with the two systems. As such I have twice as many screws and taps to accommodate each system. For instance my Sawstop has metric bolts
