Hi:
Does anyone know what cutterhead speed manufactures recommend for joiners? I assume that would be in revolutions per minute. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Dennis

Post your make and model number and I'll see if I can help.

You can go to many manufacturers, dealers websites and get the specs on many different machines and answer your own questions. Beats waiting for an answer!
Sorry if I didn't post enough information. The Joiner has no brand name, it's just labeled 4" precision jointer. It appears to have been made in the 60's and really is a quality product ( except when it comes to changing blades -- The new machines are so much better). The pulleys are currectly set up to produce 4000 rpm cutterhead speed and I'm wondering if thats not a bit slow.
Any information would be appreciated

4,000 to 4,500 RPM is typical for a 4" jointer so the machine is set up correctly. Unless you are comparing it to one of the larger jointers with a spiral or disposable blade cutter head, the method of mounting the blades on your machine hasn't changed from the typical machine being sold today.

Thank you John, I appreciate the information.
Good luck and be safe.

Dennis, my first jointer was a Rockwell 4".4000 rpm's sounds correct to me. It came with a 1/2 hp motor that was plenty hefty for a small jointer.
