Does anyone know of a bit for this cabinet door edge detail? This is a very common edge detail around here and I often get jobs to replace a damaged door or add new doors to an existing set of cabinets.
I can get very close to this detail with a Euro hinge edge bit for the front of the door and a raised panel undercutter for the back. This gets pretty tedious however and I’m sure that someone must make a bit for this. I’ve checked MLCS and Rockler but they don’t have one.
Thanks

Most doors like that are done with shaper cutters, often slightly different from door maker to door maker. I can't recall seeing a profile like that in a router bit. I checked my Bosch, CMT, and Amana catalogs, no joy. If you have a lot of work for it and have a shaper, there are quite a few outfits that will make you a cutter if you send them the profile.

I posted that then cruised the internet and found nothing, either. My "shaper" is the Delta benchtop Router/Shaper and it does a fine job on raised panels, door rails & stiles, etc, but this edge detail is a PITA!!
It takes two cutters and a fair amount of setup time followed by some hand sanding. I get there, but it take a while - lol
I may have to look into using shaper cutters on my Delta.
I have that Delta also, I use it for one offs when the other shapers are tied up. It's a nice little machine and has done very well by me. If it did'nt come with it you can get a 1/2 shaper arbor for it. You'll find a bigger selection of profiles in 3/4" but reducer bushings work well and are easy to get. Delta's part # is 43-515.

Re: Forestgirls comment. Sorry, I went through our catalog and there is nothing like it that can be done in one pass. Sorry. As another post said, You can get close with two but probably three passes and some sanding. I would be tempted to go to a very good sharpening shop and ask if they could duplicate the profile by regrinding a straight shaper cutter.Work Safe, Count to 10 when your done for the day !!

Have you tried http://www.routerbits.com ?

That 6016 profile from routerbits.com looks like what I'm looking for. I'll check it later this morning and place the order if it will work. I also see the 6015 profile occasionally. I've done it with my Euro edge bit for the door front then bevel cuts on the table saw for the back. It works but it's also a PITA.
Is this a cool site, or what!!?? - lol I've told people about how someone can ask a question and get several answers or suggestions - sometimes within a couple of hours. In the bad old days, I would have spent hours driving to tool stores, looking thru catalogs, and hoping I got lucky. Now, I ask my question and sit back to wait for answers.
Thanks to everyone!
You might try Eagle America.

thats the closest one I could find by clicking on the link that someone posted below. Routerbits.com. Its also the only site I looked at!
I've seen similar but dont know if I have seen exactly that in a router bit, check all the makers that you can think of, maybe you'll come up with something close.
That profile is a standard edge shape in shaper cutters. I have a Delta model, nice shaper cutter and the profile can be used for many other things. I don't think you could run it in a benchtop.

Whiteside makes a router bit that is similar #6016. It's called a door edge bit!

Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
The Delta looks somewhat similar to his profile, maybe close enough but it appears to me to not be a match. I did'nt see anything even close in whiteside am I missing something?

I think the picture of the shaper cutter is misleading but they may have modernized the shape. I have a number of Delta/Rockwell cutters and one matches that profile. This is a very common edge shape. The poster won't be able to use that shaper cutter in a benchtop. If you click on the link to Whiteside, scroll down under the catalog list and click on Door and Drawer Edge bits, a PDF will open showing #6016. It's the only router bit I know that is close to that edge profile.Beat it to fit / Paint it to match

The 6016 isn't the right profile after all. The profile on the front of the door is fine, but the undercut part is ~1/8" - 3/16" too deep and would expose the sides of the hinge cups.
Can you post a link for the Delta Rockwell cutter you have? I can get a mandrel and bushings for my benchtop.
As far as I can tell, Dave, Delta no longer has these cutters on their site. Mine is from the 90's without a number. I don't think it will work with cup hinges, either. Looks like the Freud bit will work for you.Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Dave,
The Freud 99-064 produces that door edge:

That sure looks close. I checked your website and was planning a trip to one of your retailers this morning anyway. If they have that bit, I'll get it.
Tell your boss that you want a commission on the sale - lol.
Thanks
try a pannel bit for the top and molding set for the bottom
