Need advice on cabinet plywood thickness
I am a beginner, building some built-in cabinets in my home office that consist of MCP carcasses covered with cabinet-grade plywood. Ordinarily I would expect to use 3/4″ plywood for cabinets and shelves, but since I have MCP boxes already, could I get away with thinner plywood for the exterior or should I stick with 3/4″?
Thanks,

Why not???
I'd say the shelf is the most important.. The groove to hold it is not that importand as long as some wood holds it..
I have been wrong before..
See what others say...
I should clarify: I plan on using the same 3/4" MCP for the interior shelves. These cabinets are not very wide so I'm not very worried about the bowing factor of MCP. I was really asking only about the sides and toekicks of the cabinets. I'm going to use plywood to cover the MCP and I figured since the MCP carcass is already strong enough, I'm only using the plywood to make it look good, so I should be able to use 1/2" or 1/4", right? Thanks,Carl
use 1/4" and stick em on with contact cement (the solvent based, not the water based)

There was an article in FWW a while back with a title close to "Making Fine Furniture From Plywood." I think the author used mdf sandwiched between oak or cherry plywood for the exterior and birch for the interior...1/4 outside plywood + 1/2mdf + 1/4 interior plywood.
Thanks for the advice everyone. That gives me the confidence I need to give it a go.
