Can anyone help me find a source for 18 sq ft of curly maple 1/4″ thick? Preferrably, all the boards are from the same billet so they all match in tone and general figure. This is too small a quantity for those few retailers who offer resawing services? Woodcraft has it, but no guarantee of matching tone and figure.

I have gotten good stuff from Bell Forest PRoducts, I believe is in Michigan. I don't have the web-stie address handy, but I know they have web-site.
I have bought some off eBay and this guy has been reliable so far.

You might contact him and see if he has what you need. Can also search eBay for 1/4 curly maple and see what you get. Persoanlly I margianlly prefer quilted to curly
Hello Ricks503,
I'll check him out. Thanks for the response.
Find a 8/4 by 6" piece and resaw it. Do you have a band saw? Or get a one or two long 3/4" boards that match and plane them down. It will waste a lot of lumber but will be easy, quick and cheep.

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the advice. I had hoped to avoid tackling resawing and planing to thickness. Apparently in the vast world of the Internet, no one has gone into this service as a business.
If you get some nice boards, consider calling a cabinet shop to see if they'll resaw and plane or sand it to the thickness you want. It shouldn't be terribly expensive and if you aren't in a big hurry, they can do it when business is slow.
"I cut this piece four times and it's still too short."
Good idea! I'll ask around at our Fine Woodworking Club.
Guitar makers use figured maple in their work, and there are quite a few businesses who specialize in providing it. Here's a Google. as an example. You might be able to find someone not too far from you.

Hello Forestgirl,
Thanks for the lead. Some of those woods are really spectacular!
