NEED/DESIRE an extremely good miter saw
Hello all of you seasoned professionals. I am a “DEFINATE” novice as far as my carpentry skills go. With our new house, it has become my duty to build a new front porch and also a rear deck. I realize a good miter (sliding) saw is going to be an investment that could make these jobs go much easier, along with the book I purchased “Decks – planning, designing, and building”. Information needed— I have been looking at reviews, but they seem to favor the manufacturer being discussed at the time. I have also been “window shopping” and have a couple of specifics in mind. Without “Tainting” this discussion for one of the specifics, I will tell you that I plan to build my porch and deck, and then use my saw for making small (relative term) presentation boxes for one of my other hobby’s, I make custom knives and would like to be able to make a fine box for some of them. My wife would also like me to build some specialty furniture for our house. I welcome any advice that will help me “Nail Down” one of the betterest saws currently available…………Thanx.

My first choice is the 10in. Makita LS 1O13 SCMS, second choice would be the new Bosch 10in. SCMS, with the positional handle.

I have the Makita 10 inch sliding compound miter saw. I cannot say enough in praise of this tool. It is solid and accurate. The blade that comes with it is excellent (on many saws you need to upgrade to get good results). I highly recommend it.
