HI, we would like to know how to distress fir for kitchen cabinets, for example making nail and worm holes, deep scrathes and generally giving a look of “mature wood”! The marks should be much darker than the wood.
Any advice on finishing for example type of stain etc. would be appreciated.

Nothin' looks better than Watco natural on v.g. fir (have to bow my head when I say that). After it ages a while it turns the most beautiful red/orange. I don't think it would stand up on cabinets very well without a top coat though. I like satin. - jb
