Hi, I could use some help. I have to replace one drawer front veneer on an old dresser. I am not sure of the veneer type. I am pretty sure it is white oak, but not sure of the “cut” style. Somebody suggested it might be tiger oak. I have 2 pictures, one where the handle was, so you can see unstained area, and the other is a shot of the grain.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also looking for sources to buy the veneer, any suggestions ideas?
Thanks,John

I would agree that it looks like white oak, if it has "flake", it is probably quarter sawn. Check out certainlywood.com They have several cuts of white oak veneer.
Robert
No, It doesn't have the flake that one would expect to see in quatersawn.
Thanks for you help, John
Might try a search for ribbon and or tiger oak. I have always seen tiger oak, AKA quarter-sawn......Good luck, Dale
If it is oak, the horizontal lines are the edges of the rays, and the wood is plain sawed (sliced?) or possibly even cylinder sliced. The diagonal lines appear to be painted on, since they aren't continuous across the handle area.
