Need help identifying a machine
Hi all,
I need help identifying the name of a machine I once used in a shop. Unfortunately I’m not in contact with anyone from there anymore.
It was a saw that cut straight lines on the edges of boards, but also cleaned up the edge with a mill/jointer. This was for thick veneering and getting glue lines on edges of boards.
It’s footprint was rectangular and you’d operate it from the long edge. You’d set the board down with the edge you want to cut facing you with the opposite end on a fence. You set your width, clamp it down hydraulically, and with the turn of a switch, the saw would travel along the edge from left to right. The saw came from underneath the board. Once the saw was past the board on the right, you’d turn the switch the opposite way and the saw would retract, and a milling/jointing head would come up and travel from right to left, cleaning up the edge that was just cut.
What is this machine called? I’ve tried searching for it online and couldn’t find a single one that resembles it.
Thanks in advance!

What kind of shop were you working in? It sounds like something you'd find in a large scale production shop. Not something I imagine you're going to find in a hobbyist shop, and not likely something that the average Joe can 1. afford and 2. have easy access to purchase.
It was a shop that was making thick veneers to make wide panels. This machine would dimension and prepare the edges for glue up.
And yes, I'm not looking to purchase it, just want to know the name of it.
