I am still very new to woodworking. I have only been working as a carpenter’s helper for about a year. Anyways my sister decided to break a brand new futon that my father bought her. My father wants it repaired and its a very simple piece. However I still am not educated enough to know what wood this is.

yeah its a plywood alright. now i just need to test some stains on a piece. the photo was done right outside in the middle of day with some preset close up settings on my camera.
I agree with Bruce S.--it definitely looks like lauan.
