Is there anyone who lives in the West Los Angels area who can set up power tools for me? For a fee of course.
I was gathering tools to set up a garage shop but ran into serious medical issues that sapped my strength and limited my mobility.
I have tools still unboxed – 10″ Jet table saw; 14″ Laguna Bandsaw; Wen upright Drill Press; Dewalt 735 Planer (needs setup and Shilex OEM sized helical cutterhead installed); Bosch 1171 Router table.
Thank you,

Try reaching out to Woodcraft or Rockler in your area. They may not do it themselves but some of their local employees there might do it as a separate business.
Thanks, Joe. I did that yesterday. Rockler was a no go, but one of the staff at Woodcraft might help me.
You might try Westwood Power tool in Culver City. One of the tool repair guys does that sort of thing on his time off.
Thank you! I'll try them.
I think your over specializing. Woodworking machines are pretty simple in the world of machines. Anyone with mechanical ability should be able to set them up. Anyone that could repair a transmission or rebuild an engine or a machinist is working in an area of tolerances that are far more exacting than woodworking machines. Set up instructions come with the machines so it's not necessary to know how to use them to set them up. I'd put an ad in craigslist. I wouldn't assume that the 22 year old counter person at a woodworking store knows anything, I'd rather find the kid down the block building hotrods!
Excellent thinking out of the box. Thanks for the tip!
You might ask a local high school shop teacher or if there are any local woodworking clubs….if there is such a thing as either out there. Hopefully there is someone out there that’d help you just for the fun of new machines and to have a woodworker to drink coffee with.
Not sure where in the LA area they are located, but somebody from Nick Offer man’s shop might be able to help? Starving young artisans and all that.
