Need Help with a Rockwell Model 13
Hi,
I’m new to posting on the Knots forum but have had excellent help on the Breaktime forum. After having busted the gears in my Dewalt DW735 planer (early model) and having discovered what appear to be powdered metal gears I decided to pickup a used commercial grade planer. Tomorrow I’m picking up a Rockwell Model 13 that seems to be in ok shape. It needs lots of love and care but seems solid. At a minimum I new install a new belt drive belt.
If anyone has any literature, advice (rebuilding or use) or a good parts source I would greatly appreciate it. It seems as though it is a solid, but very heavy, machine.
Thanks,
John

What are you going to do with the DW735 ??

Oops,
It is a 733 not a 735. The 735 seems to be a much better machine from what I can tell.
You aren't superstitious, are you?

Nah! But its also a 22-401 for the superstitous types.
I've got one of these planers. Ace tool Supply lists the variable speed drive belt at ~10.00 but the cutterhead drive belt is listed as discontinued. I'd guess that it's available from belt drive supplier. I do have a manual but I'm swamped right now and it may take me some time to get down and have it copied. Send me an email if you have any specific questions.
Best of luck, it's a nice planer.

Hi Bill,
Thanks for the reply! A copy of the manual would be greatly appreciated. No rush, but if you are up for it I will cover all costs. I'll be bringing it home tomorrow so I'll email questions that I have over the next week or so.
Thanks,
John
Maybe this will help you. I have been able to order compliant parts for my 1948 Delta lather from these folks, and they claim to have most parts necessary to maintain most of the older machines in the Rockwell and Delta lines.
