I tried BLO for the first time over the weekend and unfortunately had to answer a kitchen emergency before I was able to wipe the excess off.
I am now stuck with several deep puddles. I tried using a card scaper to get the largest of the puddles off, but I don’t think this is the best way.
Can someone with a similar experience give me some ideas on how to get back to zero with this BLO. Is there a solvent that will strip the BLO off the wood so I can start anew, or what?

What was your intention with the BLO? While it's a pretty good treatment for coloring the wood and "popping" the grain, its at the very lowest point of the totem pole as a finish.
You can remove most of it by using a good paint stripper containing methylene chloride. Or, you can use 3/0 steel wool and mineral spirits. Rub the mineral spirits in the direction of the grain and then use lots of paper towels to remove the gunk. The latter process will leave a little BLO in the grain so you will be sort of back to the point you wanted originally.

I was treating a freshly planed workbench top. The last two times I planed it flat I used Tung Oil but my wife told me she would leave me if I used it again.
Thanks for the tip on the methylene chloride. I only want to get it down to a flat surface so I can then build it back up - without puddles.
