I need some advice folks. I am currently building a William and Mary style spice chest. I would like the draw fronts to be made of ambrosia maple. To give the draw fronts more interest and a more cohesive look, I am planning to use a single piece of ambrosia turned on a diagonal of 45 degrees. Does anyone see any potential problems with the draw fronts made this way rather than the convential long grain running with the length of the draw front? I would appreciate any advice, as I would rather make changes to my plans now than to have a disaster after the chest is built.

Seems you'd be bringing all sorts of stability and joint integrity problems due to cross grain.
Wouldn't using veneer produce the same effect while avoiding problems?

Wow, spice chest drawers are fairly small. I'd say you can do pretty much what you want to.
