Need help with Jewelry box .
*
Does anyone have or know where I can find nice jewelry box plans? Wife requests a “large jewelry box with old looking cracking paint and at least 20 compartments.” She puts up with me, so it’s the least that I can do!
I’ve have a rough design of my own, but I’m not 100% sure how to build the slide out drawers. Any ideas, i.e. best types of wood, drawer designs or plans on the Web.
Thank You,
Fred Everett

Fred: The drawers can slide on a thin board extending front to back (in contast to rails used on a full-size chest of drawers). Attach the board to the sides with a dado joint. Another method: Groove the drawer sides. Then screw sticks to the sides which mate with the groove. Since there is very little stress on jewelry box drawer joints you can get by with butt joints or tongue-in-groove. Create your own design by drawing it full size on paper.
*b Plans for jewelry box Several years ago I used plans sold by Furniture Designs, Evanston, IL. I can't locate them now. They had a catalog with hundreds(?) of plans. Does anyone know where they are now, or a good source for a large selection of plans?
*www.furnituredesigns.com which is located in Glenview, Illinois, 800 657-7692, a FWW advertiser.
*I built these jewelry boxes based on plans/techniques found in Box Making Basics (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1561581232/o/qid=989621089/sr=8-1/ref=aps_sr_b_1_1/107-1940085-5461362) and one other book whose title escapes me. I'd go to the library or book store and browse through some of the many books on making boxes.
