need old Rockwell router repair part
Hi All,
I’ve got an old, (bought used in 1972) rockwell router, Model 150M, that I need a part for. I’m looking for the plastic cover, shield,or shroud that is screwed to the top of the motor, and protects it from stuff being sucked into the motor. I’ve been to the rockwell/porter cable website, they don’t even acknowledge the model no as being one of theirs. Contacted a couple of repair businesses via their websites and no luck. I can’t believe no-one has parts for a machine that’s a mere 30 couple years old!!
I’m wondering if anyone out there, like me, never throws anything away, and has an antique like mine they wouldn’t mind parting out, I’d like to hear from you.
Guess I could fabricate a shield of some kind, but would rather replace with the right part if possible.
Thanks,
Ray

Ray,
One of these companies should have what you are looking for. (This link will take you to a Rockwell Power Tool - Usefull Links Page).

Jackie,
Thanks, that's the site where I started my search. I tried the two who seemed the most likely from their web pages to have what I need, one sent me back to rockwell, the other hasn't replied :-( that's why I'm looking for someone with an old decrepit one under a bench somewhere...
Mine still works fine, and I use it once in a while with jigs that are dedicated to its base. When I got it in '72 it came with a power plane attachment, and a door hinge routing template, all in a metal case. Nice set up for its time.
Thanks again,
Ray
I would try calling the Delta/Porter Cable service center in Tenn. They have an 800 number which is printed on all their manuals. I don't have it in front of me, but could find it easily if you contact me.
All of the people on their tech service desk seem very knowledgeable. There is a good chance if they don't have what you're looking for, and if it is available, they will be able to tell you where to go.
nikiwood,
Thanks, I'll look at my stuff, and see if I have that #, if not, I'll contact you.

Phone Dick Journiman at 586-463-5556. He is the Rockwell/PC dealer for obsolete parts. He is located in Harrison Twp., MI about a 15 min. drive from me. If he does not have it, no one does. I'm surprised the PC dealers did not send you to him. He is listed in their parts catalogs.

Thanks, I'll give him a try. Will keep his # as a reference also!

Unfortunately even Porter Cable has subcomb to discontinuing parts on some vintage machines. DeWalt started it by discontinuing parts for machines made in the 90's - many followed suit. Milwaukee is one of the few who still maintains a rather extensive inventory of parts.
The model 150 router - a one and a quarter hp machine with a quarter inch collet (half inch not available) is a nice machine - I own one but no parts are available. Instead, go to a plumbing supply house and get a round end cap - can't remember if it 3 or 4 inch. Drill some air holes - make sure you allow the same or more spacing than the original if you still have it - and the cap will work great. That's what I did and the machines works like a charm - not much elese to go wrong except brushes and a good motor shop can handle them as well a sbearings.
Good Luck!
ED,
Round end cap, for what? Sounds like a good idea, in case I can't find a replacement part. Use it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without, right?

Rockler model 150 router
My father bought, in the early 70's the 150 M with planer attachement, nice case and all and then bought with it, a second 150 M and both the planner and second router have the pistol style grip.
Burried in an attic of a family member since 1978, it now arrives on my door step. One has the top cap destroyed. The other has a cord with pretty good wear.
Together I have one complete router and the second I am making available to old tool lovers for parts. Price: Negotioable, Im not sure what if anything it is worth.
If any interest in this, email me at [email protected]
I bought one of these recently from a retired lumberyard owner. I had a time unraveling it, as you did, mainly because it had the modern flat-top plastic housing off a current Model 690 series Porter cable. It fits fine, same screw hole spacing and all. It seems the basic P-C router hasn't changed much in all these years. Part number is 888727 and you can get it through P-C's ServiceNet, eReplacementParts.com and probably several others. Cost is around $16.
