How much you need to worry about UV light depends on both the exposure--how much direct sun it gets during the day, and on the nature of the windows. Double pane windows, particularly with low e coatings reduce UV considerably. Most exterior oil based varnishes would work fine. If you got sun all day, particularly with just a single pane of glass, you would have to go with a marine spar varnish for the extra UV resistance, despite it being a bit too soft for the application.
