I’m installing new windows with bare wood on the interior sash (frame, muntins, mullions, etc.). My wife insists that they be painted white. I hate to cover all that beautiful wood, but it is the appropriate choice (and she will NOT be dissuaded).
I want to make sure that the paint can be stripped off. That way, after we die, and some other poor guy’s wife insist that he stain them, it won’t be so hard.
Any suggestions on a good sealer for the wood to prevent the paint from staining the wood? Ideally, it would also act as a primer coat.
I was thinking dewaxed shelac.

I think you're right. Couple of coats ought to do the trick. But how do you tell the new owners after you've been mauled by the 18 wheeler that it's only going to take alcohol to refurbish the windows? Rich Rose oughta jump in here and agree with me, soon as he gets back from the barbers.
