Changed my DC top bag today. The old one was 20″ x 4′. The new one is 20″ x 6′ (25 micron). Bottom bag is plastic.
Man, what a difference in sucking power! Like the CFM was doubled!
The old one was 5 yrs old and dirty as all get out. DC sets outside the shop. Delta DC 350 I think is the number. Advertised as 1200 CFM with 1.5hp. It might be approching that now.

Planewood,
I have the Delta AP400 (650 cfm, 1 hp). Where did you get the new bags at? I like my lill unit but if I could "super charge" it I'd be happy.
Thanks
Joe
Is it really saw dust or wood dust?

I ordered it from Delta. Make sure the girl understands that you want a bag with a strap on the top. Also, they will only know the bags by their parts numbers. They will not know them by length. The first one they sent me was a short bottom bag. After calling them on that, they sent me a top bag that was 6' long. It was not the correct one for my DC, but it sure works better. Basically, most of the bags are labelled wrong on their web site.

Wow. No kidding?? I was just complaining on another site how I thought my 1350 DC wasn't getting the job done. I wonder if changing the bag would do the trick. I was thinking about retrofitting one of those large cannister filters, because I heard that they are better than the bags, because of the corrugated interior surface area, or some crap like that. If someone out there has one of those cannister filters on their DC, please chime in.

Take the top bag off and do a test. That should let you know if the 1350 has sufficient air flow.
I work mainly with the waxy exotic woods and they tend to plug up the air bags. The dust from domestic woods that gets trapped in the cloth will fall out and into the bottom bag when the DC is shut off. The dust from the waxy woods tend to stay in the weave of the cloth and eventually will reduce the air flow considerably.
I had washed my 1st bag several times. I would soak it in soap and water outside and let it dry then take it into the washing machine. The outside soaking was in order to not get any of the dust in the house.
I don't see how a cannister would help in my case.
