I’m wondering if I’m in the wrong place. Does the “Manspace” post indicate that only men post here? I sure hope now. I got into woodworking back in ’75 and got my journeyman’s card in carpentry in 1980. I’m definitely not a “pro” at any of it but I love to build things and work with my hands – “no smart cracks here please”. lol
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and say that I know I can learn a lot on here.

Welcome Marilyn!
Don't let the MANSPACE thing check you up. This is not a man place only. I am still quite new to this forum myself, but you will find a wide variety of folks here with a wide variety of experience.
Though there are quite a few cat fights from time to time, it's all good.
Heck you got me beat by a long shot. Only been fooling with ww for 8 or 9 years. It's a hobby and a stress reliever for me. I'm just an old lineman trying to get ready for retirement. My big experience before ww, with wood was climbing poles.
Anyway, welcome and let it rip when ya want. Oh yeah I got some work to the house I need done and need a good carpenter........

as always I wish you enough.

STRESS reliever......... I fell off my puter chair laughing at that one! LOL...
Ya can't fool anyone on this site...lol...after re-reading it made me go open a cold one...and go to the shop and work on the latest thing for the wife.....
Welcome to the site, Marilyn. You won't be the only female in this bunch but you won't be in the majority either. Just like a job site. Don't forget to fill out a little personal information in your profile. Things can be a little different in New Zealand than in Maine. Your experience will be a great addition to the forum.

"Manspace" is a myth invented by women!

"Oh sure, you can go out to you shop while I have to stay here in the kitchen!! Ahhhhhhhh honey, while you are out there, my friend Gail just moved into a new house. Can you make something nice for her as a house warming present?"
Does that sound familiar to anyone but me?

Hi Marilyn, forestgirl here, LOL! That MANSPACE thread is one of the most bizarre I've seen at Knots, and I've been around for a pretty long time.
If I can talk Splintie (Splintergroupie, or Colleen) into spending some Knots time again, we'll constitute a force to be reckoned with. Actually, the guys here are great, you'll enjoy the boards I'm sure. Welcome!!

Thanks all for the warm welcome....at least I THINK it was warm. LOL! I like your name Forestgirl....makes me think of places I like to be. My husband and I were into motorcycling for quite a few years until about the middle of last summer. He lost his job and the mortorcycles went soon after. He got another job about two weeks after we sold them but we decided that we spent too much time and money just putting around so now we are back into the building mode again...working on a sunroom redo at the moment and looking forward to building some furniture again. We've purchased a finish nailer and a brad nailer which we absolutely love. Motorcycles sure can take you away from things....lol

Bikes, eh? Used to love to ride (too mortal now, LOL). When I was in college, I rode a Honda 350 for transport for a couple years. Hwy 101 in Calif is a joy on a bike. From whence do you hail?forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
