New Jigs coming by Leigh and someday PC?
Hi, I am something of a newbie, 3 yrs plus. I was considering the puchase of the Leigh D4R, then I saw they have the Super coming out next month. Also, learned thru FWW online that PC has promised, since last year, an update on their Omnijig. Of which looks interesting too. Now before, I am asked, I make all kinds of things from scratch. I see a photo of piece and make my version of it. So besides being a boy-toy, I want the best I can afford with more bells and whistles than I need, at this moment in time.
I realize this is fairly heavy topic, with lots of opinions. If you had to buy one of the 3 24inch router jigs which would it be: the D4R, the Leigh 24″ Super or the over promised but under delivered PC 24″ Omnijig?

Leigh to Offer New Dovetail Jigs
by Roland Johnson
Perhaps, the Editors of FWW would make the determination that this would be a good subject to cover sometime in the future!
D4R.... the new super is a cheaper version for lower budgets. The spec comparison on Leighs website will show you the differences. The D4R also has more optional attachments (at least right now)
OK the D4R will not do blind dovetails in one pass, correct? While it appears the Super can do that as well as the Omnijig, is that not also correct?

Sure it will.
The D4R is Leigh's "top of the line"jig. You can download the manual on the Leigh website.
Look at the Woodrat instead. It is a more versatile machine than either of them.

There are several demo videos on youtube as well.

D4R can do thicker boards and has more options....only if you think someday you may want to get more creative as you advance. I don't think it will do 1 pass... Went to site to see... 1 pass means pins & tails at the same time
I wish I could get back the money spent on tools that met my needs at the time but didn't allow for room to grow.

Actually I was wrong. I looked at the manual, and HB DT's require two passes on the D4/D4R. The price you pay for variable-sized pins, I guess.

Perhaps because they were working again. In any event they both work for me from this computer.
Cheers,
Hello,
Earlier I wrote a fairly critical post concerning Leigh and its customer support. I wrote them twice and my email was returned twice, roughly about a week apart. I have deleted that posting in fairness to Leigh jigs.
PeterDurand informs me that the email issues have been addressed and are now working, properly.
Thank you, Peter,
Richard

I just had two emails returned from Leigh, again.
