I just got an offer to buy a Grizzly G1182Z Jointer with the steel blades never used and an installed set of carbide blades. This is a 6″ jointer and seems to be in good shape (other than that he likes Delta and repainted it to look like his delta tools) and he is moving up to an 8″. He wants $210 and I am thinking this is a good deal. Any comments?

1 – measure the board twice, 2 – cut it once, 3 – measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 – get a new board and go back to step 1

I don't know about where you live, but in the Seattle area I just don't see that many used jointers come up. Sounds like a fine thing to me! Price= half of the new cost (before shipping). Run a couple pieces of stock over it and if they come out straight and square should be a winner.
The best deal I could find when looking for a jointer was the Jet 6" at a "scratch-n-dent" sales outlet near their Auburn warehouse and it was well over half-price.

This one is south of you in the Vancouver area. I can drive there in about 1 hr. May take them up - will take a piece of oak and a square with me.1 - measure the board twice, 2 - cut it once, 3 - measure the space where it is supposed to go 4 - get a new board and go back to step 1
Have fun, keep us posted. I'll be the owner'll be willing to demo a few pieces for you too. forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)Another proud member of the "I Rocked With ToolDoc Club" .... :>)
Run a couple of boards to see if you can come up with a decent glue line before you buy it.
