I live in Michigan but I grew up in North Dakota where the land is very flat. I mean very Flat.
In the spring, in fact right now, the Red River Valley seperating North Dakota and Minnesota floods. Because of the flat ground, once the river is out of its’ bed it can run for 15 miles. 1997 was a terrible year.
Here’s an arial shot of the flood that year.

I have been working on a new table design that will accomadte flood water run-off.
I have attached some shots of the prototype

Does this have some to do with April Fools day or were you "on" something when you designed and built that?
Were you around when we had a "plane fire" reported on April Fool's day? Can't remember who created the thread, but it was hysterical. Long description of how he set his plane to smokin' and, IIRC, the stock on fire with his fine and vigorous planing technique. ROFL! Wish I could find it at the Old Knots.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
No I guess was assembling my saw at the time.Alan
Here it is #24254.1
Mmmmmm, that took me to a lathe thread..... Thanks for trying though.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Who knows why that took you to a lathe post. I know I did a search using plane and fire and found it and forgot to write down the post number, so I did a search using the same words again two minutes later and got nothing. Here is the post that I put up last April Fool's Day. The year before that on April Fool's, someone posted wanting to know where to find quartersawn dowels and I thought that was a hoot when he got serious replies.

Just a warning to everyone. I was hand planing the twist out of some curly sycamore this morning with a Stanley #6 and I had a particulary good rhythm going. About 10 minutes in to the procedure, I started seeing and smelling smoke and I could feel the heat throgh the tote. All of the sudden, the wood ignited. I pushed the board to the concrete floor and put out the fire with an extinguisher. The speed of my planing caused enough friction to start a fire.
I don't pay much attention to the calendar or directions on equipment I guess. I'd better be more careful.Alan
looks like you did that for a client in the W. Virginia Hill country.

ok ! What is the reason for two of the legs shorter , or did I miss something in shop class, I build a lot of furniture and I would have used telescoping legs or build it with inflatable air bags under the bottom shelf. or just build your home like they do on the coast of Florida. ( on poles )
An idea will come , as a problem arouses.
The table was for real allthough the post was an April Fools setting. The table was designed to hold a TV and a VCR while fit over a fireplace hearth.http://www.woodwardwoodworks.com/TVVCRTABLE.htmlAlan
I made one of those but mine was a mistake..
I had my ruller up-side-down..NA! Nice work...
I thought you were suggesting putting the table on the TV to keep it out of the flood water.
