I like to build chess boards for people on Xmas. I have been using this finger joint method for some time now. But I am wanting to change it up. I was thinking of maybe a carved corner or an applied pilaster…I don’tknow… I am asking for suggestions

I saw a dark spline cut into a mitered corner.It looked pretty good.  Anyone have any suggestions
