I’ve been looking at the new 1-3/4 HP Milwaukee BodyGrip Router. I like how it has a mechanism that allows it to be raised or lowered from above a router table. It has 11 amps, 24 000 rpm, and comes with a 1/4″ and a 1/2″ collet. It doesn’t have variable speed or a soft start. Are these features significant enough for me to choose another router? Does anybody have any experience with the BodyGrip?
All opinions appreciated!

Good tool, ergonomics for your hands, body grip of no benefit in the table. Have one, like it. Compact, reasonably powerful, good value, secondary adjuster works well. A great little hand router. VS and soft start are always welcome especially with so many marginal cutters these days, would be a good thing to have. 5615 with cam toggle lock, fair cutter visibility. Could use a few changes but would not rule this one out.

What other routers should I consider?
