The 1 hp motor of the old Delta contractor’s saw I have been painstakingly restoring is pretting well shot. What should one expect after 45 years, right? Is it worth it to hang a new 1.5hp motor on this old saw? How much and where would I get it so that I can attach it directly to the bracket. I suspect a new Delta motor with the brackets already welded on the housing would be pricey.
Any thoughts?

You don't need to speed any amount of money and buy a new one when there are plenty of older ones kicking around that have lots of life in them. Try a place that rebuilds older motors.

If you don't have any luck with the above suggestion, you might try the Grizzly catalog for motors. They're not Baldors, but the price is right.
