New planer – DeWalt or Grizzly?
I’ve got a little dilemma on my hands. Getting ready to purchase a new planer. I can go to the local Lowe’s and pick up a DeWalt DW735, purchase the additional extension tables ($50) and build a stand for the whole thing. Or, I can purchase a Grizzly GO477 and have it delivered for $765. I figure the DeWalt will save me about $150, but I’ll spend a weekend building the stand.
Which would you choose? Seems to me the Grizzly is the best choice. Does anyone have any experience with the GO477? My only apprehension is the Grizzly has two cutting blades, where the DeWalt has three. Seems to me the DeWalt may have a better finish with the extra blade.
I’d appreciate any advice. Thanks.

G0453 is a much better design, that's what I would buy in place of the G0477. Couple dollars more, but much heavier castings, you'll get better performance from this machine. It will be working long after the DeWalt is dead, and I'm a big fan of DeWalt tools. Just a bigger fan of Grizzly. If you're a weekend warrior wood worker and don't plan to use the machine all that much, then the DeWalt would be my choice, it's a fine machine for occasional/hobby use. So, the better question to ask yourself is how much do you plan to use the machine. Are you going to plane hundreds of board feet of wood, building a few projects or thousands of board feet building dozens and dozens of projects over many years???
