I am looking at buying a Powermatic Model 68 for $525. It looks to be the equivalent of the current Powermatic Model 72A. It has a 5HP motor and is 84″ long including the Beisemyer styled rip fence. The only problem is that I have to drive quite a ways to pick it up since it is in Illinois.
Anyway if anyone is needing somthing hauled for a good price on the route I am taking, give me a holler. I am going from Austin, TX to Chicago through either Oklahoma or Arkansas then to St. Louis and on up to Illinois. I haven’t decided yet if I am going to go yet, but thought I would give you a heads up. I will be making the trip next Friday if I go.
Thanks

You could pick up some good lumber along the way.
Austin, TX to Chicago ..
I did that! Fort Hood to Chicago.. I drove straight through..
BUT I was just a KID then!
I talked myself out of it. If I hadn't just bought a new S&W M908, I would jump on it. Oh well, there are always other deals. to tell you the truth Will, I hadn't even thought about the lumber angle, but your are right about that.Michael BurtonThunderbird HardwoodsKD MesquiteLlano, TX
What!?
There is no lumber here in Illinois! None whatsoever.
It is all farmland. Absolutely no trees. Beans and corn and wheat.
And where was this saw again.
Arggg....if I could just have a bigger shop!

Man I just made that trip myself.
Austin, TX to CR Iowa(hometown), then to Chicago(sister lives there and had to make delivery) and back home.
Wish I'd of known you were going.
Of course none of this helps you but found it coincedental!

Forgive the spelling, spell check dont work for me anymore!
I didn't go. It turns out it was a scam. I got a forged "Second chance offer" from someone claiming to be the guy who actually had the saw. ** EVERYBODY NEEDS TO READ THIS THAT DOES BUSINESS ON eBAY!!!!! ** I do quite a bit of business through eBay and last week received a spoofed "Second Chance Offer" from a guy, on a Powermatic Model 68 table saw. He claimed the guy that won the auction backed out and he offered me the saw for my maximum bid. The e-mail looked legitimate at first glance. Unfortunately I deleted the note before I realized it was a scam and don't have it to really look it over.
Anyway, I found out that it is not uncommon for this to happeen to people. Be sure you use the eBay website itself to contact the original seller to verify this is not a scam. DO NOT just reply to the Second Chance Offer note like I did. eBay will include your registered name as well as your userID in communications to you. I have included a link for you to check out more thoroughly.http://pages.ebay.com/help/confidence/name-userid-emails.htmlMaybe it will save someone some grief. I didn't lose anything, but came awfully close to losing about $1000.RegardsMichael BurtonThunderbird HardwoodsKD MesquiteLlano, TX
