New tablesaw or Older more powerful one?
I have a limited amount of $ and need to decide between a new table saw or an older cabinet saw for the same money. The new one I like is the Jet 10″ supersaw. It has a great new fence, large table, good dust port set up, etc… I currently have a Delta contractors saw and I can’t stand the fence or the fact there is no dust collection box. I’ve also had problems getting it back to 90 degrees since some of the teeth underneath have broken. I do not use the saw every day full time. I use it in bursts for furniture projects. I don’t want to have to buy a new saw every 10 years. What do you think? Any advice is appreciated.

For the money, I would purchase a cabinet saw. You can purchase the Grizzly for less money and have more power. The grizzly may not be as refined as a Unisaw or PM66, but gets the job done with much power to spare. I would look at it or a used Unisaw or PM66
You don't say what the older cabinet saw is, but I would rather have that than the new hybrid saw.
There's not that much difference between the contractor's saw and the hybrid to make a huge expenditure like that. IMO they are not worth the money.
I'd fix up the saw, get a new fence, and there's easy ways to add a bottom to the saw to collect the dust. If you sell the saw in it's condition you won't get much for it anyway. It should last many years if maintained. If it's an older contractor saw you should have the totally enclosed motor. The newer ones have an open frame motor.

speaking of selling your current saw, I may be interested, as I also cannot afford anything else. If you're interested let me know, it'll also depend on were you live so shipping doesn't kill me!

It's a Delta Contractors Saw. 10" in good shape. I can get it to 90 degrees, but it's a little work. Not too bad. I have a dust cover on the bottom with a 4" hose connection. I put a cardboard cover on the back which has to be removed whenever you need to change the blade angle. That drives me nuts. I'm going to try to sell it for around $250. Where do you live?
well Toledo, Ohio, but that's a bit rich for my blood, even though it is a good price, I am a lowly college student with little to no income.

Someone suggested looking into Grizzly, which I just did. Boy, the 1023 S looks like a great deal ($850, with shipping). Does anybody have one? Anyone have experience with Grizzly?
Ask yourself this: Buy a used car and you take a chance as you don't know its history and the wear and tear. Buy new and you have a warranty, know what happens to it and how its serviced. Which will you be more relaxed owning. The power thing for most is not a concern. 1.5 to 2 hp will cut and rip almost anything. Just use the right blades and keep then clean and sharp. I would get the Jet (if you can find it) or the Dewalt 746k (50"rails + sliding table) Also with new you get all the pieces, guards etc.
I ordered the Grizzly 1023SL left tilt Cabinet saw today. It is a lot of saw for the money.
I'm pleased you went for new, I've seen a lot of 2nd hand tools be a real pain.
