New to a Router – Depth adjustment prob
I recently got a new makita router. It has two bases that come with it. It seems to me that the fixed base (RF 1101) adjustment is pretty straight forward (make sure initial position is flush with a flat piece of wood, turn scale ring, one graduation and the bit is exposed 1/64″ below the base.
As for the plunge base, I am a bit confused when it comes to adjusting depth on the rotating three hex bolts. Also, fine adjustment is in mm (1.6 mm per turn) which is also a confusing to me.

Charles,
I'm not familar with your model, but in general they work all they same. Set your plunge to zero and lock in place. On the first hex nut, place a 1/4" bit or brass measure bar between the nut and 'the depth of cut measure' on the plunge. you can set up the other two hex nuts the same way using 1/2" and 3/4" depth of cut measures. Then you just rotate the hex nuts as you make successive deeper cuts. Hope this is somewhat clear.
I read the manual and still had questions.
BG, thanks for the advice. Someone had mentioned something similar.

Chuck
