I’m looking to add a couple of new tools to my shop that I’ve been doing without for a few years now. I’m looking for a drill press in the $300-400 range that will allow drilling into the end grain of a 30″ shutter. It seems a floor model would be in order here. Any suggestions?
I’m also looking into purchasing a bandsaw in the $500 range. It will be mostly used for cutting curves, but I will probably be doing some resawing in the future. My Grandmother has a barn that is close to coming down made entirely of oak. I only have a 6″ jointer, so I don’t invision doing anything wider than 6″.
Any thoughts?

RE: the $500 bandsaw, Grizzly and Delta have intro saws --($425 and $539 respectively). I'd advise getting the riser block though. There are other ways to face-joint a board than using a powered jointer, and if you have that riser block on, you can take advantage of stray logs that might come your way! I waited to put on on my Grizzly 1019Z, and once I got it on, couldn't figure out why!
